It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to sneak into a canyon in Zion, for various reasons. This year, by some stroke of crazy luck, you can actually draw permits into Kolob, sometimes. But hey, that’s better than never. So Tom Jones and I hatched an idea to try and get into Kolob for some photography. We bounced around a few ideas, and were joined by Heather, Carol, and Kev for some fun. The flows were less than ideal, probably around a half cfs, and the light was only really good for the first half of the canyon, afterwhich it got a little dull. But the canyon was beautiful as always, and it was nice to get a chance to do it again this year (before october…).

[…] A wonderful canyon. Nice that the irrigation schedule allows us to get in there this year, this early. For some good photos from our day, check out Dan Ransom’s pictorial trip report. […]
Beautiful canyon. Definitely need to get down and do it. Nice job on the photos.
