Packrafting the Yampa River at 6200cfs

Highlights from a 5 day trip down the Yampa River through Dinosaur National Monument. The Yampa is the only major tributary of the Colorado River that has not been dammed. This wild and free-flowing character means the water is warmer, full of sediment and nutrients that feed a thriving ecosystem. I’ve always heard how amazing the scenery on the Yampa is, but the wildlife is what amazed me most. What an incredible stretch of wild river.

Deerlodge gauge was at 6200cfs, Split Mountain was at 7000 a few days later.
